Set z (or res) to the coefficients of x^{\mathit{nlo}}, \ldots, x^{\mathit{nhi}-1} of the product, shifted down to start at x^0. The underscore versions write \mathit{nhi} - \mathit{nlo} coefficients and require positive lengths, 0 \le \mathit{nlo} < \mathit{nhi} \le \mathit{xlen} + \mathit{ylen} - 1 and no aliasing. The algorithms and the choice between them are those of the mullow functions.
