History

This part of the documentation collects the release notes of FLINT from version 1.0 (2007) to the present: those of each release series of FLINT 3 separately, and those of the earlier releases in groups. FLINT 3.0 merged the separate libraries Arb (ball arithmetic), Calcium (exact real and complex numbers) and Antic (number fields and binary quadratic forms); their version histories up to the merge are kept in the last group. The authors of FLINT and the history of the project are described in Contributors and History and authors.

Each entry is the release note as it was written at the time of the release. Words such as "currently", "now" or "new" refer to that release, not to the present library: for example, which operations called GMP or MPFR changed several times over the years. The current algorithms are described in the module and algorithm pages. Issue and pull request numbers refer to the FLINT repository on GitHub.
