Set res to an upper Hessenberg matrix similar to A, computed with Gaussian elimination (similarity transformations by elementary matrices) or with Householder reflections; the default uses Gaussian elimination. They need divisions and zero tests, and the Householder version also square roots and complex conjugation, and return GR_DOMAIN or GR_UNABLE if these fail.
