ca_check_lt, ca_check_le, ca_check_gt, ca_check_ge

Synopsis#include <flint/ca.h>
truth_t ca_check_lt(const ca_t x, const ca_t y, ca_ctx_t ctx)source
truth_t ca_check_le(const ca_t x, const ca_t y, ca_ctx_t ctx)source
truth_t ca_check_gt(const ca_t x, const ca_t y, ca_ctx_t ctx)source
truth_t ca_check_ge(const ca_t x, const ca_t y, ca_ctx_t ctx)source

Checks whether x < y, x \le y, x > y or x \ge y. Only real numbers and \pm \infty are comparable. If either operand is proved not comparable (a non-real number, unsigned infinity, a signed infinity other than \pm \infty, or Undefined) the result is T_FALSE, not T_UNKNOWN.

Real numbers are compared by evaluating both in ball arithmetic at increasing precision; when the balls overlap at the maximum precision, the numbers are tested for equality, which decides ca_check_le and ca_check_ge if they are equal and otherwise gives T_UNKNOWN.
